International Forum for Emerging Law & Technology
An independent, non-profit international platform dedicated to the study, anticipation, development, promotion, and responsible use of emerging technologies in legal, judicial, legislative, educational, and related fields — in the public interest.
IFELT is an independent, non-profit international platform dedicated to the study, anticipation, and responsible use of emerging technologies in legal, judicial, legislative, and educational fields — always in the public interest.
Established in 2026 in Beirut, Lebanon, IFELT was created because the legal and judicial world lacked a dedicated international forum to study and shape the transformation that technology is bringing to law and justice. We exist to fill that gap — bringing together the people and institutions best placed to ensure that innovation serves justice, not the other way around.
Who we are
A practitioner-led international forum — not a think tank, not a commercial platform. IFELT is built by and for legal professionals, academics, technologists, and policymakers who work at the intersection of law and technology every day.
Why IFELT was created
Emerging technologies are reshaping every dimension of law and justice at a pace that existing institutions were not designed to match. IFELT was established to provide the dedicated international space that this transformation demands.
What sets us apart
Our independence, our cross-border focus, and our commitment to practitioners. IFELT does not advocate for any technology or commercial interest — it advocates for justice, access, and the rule of law in a digital world.
✓ International
Connecting legal professionals, academics, and institutions across every region and legal tradition.
✓ Independent
Fully independent and non-profit — guided solely by principle and the public interest, free from commercial influence.
✓ Practitioner-Led
Founded and shaped by legal practitioners who understand the real-world challenges technology poses to justice systems.
✓ Cross-Border Focus
Dedicated to facilitating access to justice across jurisdictions, borders, and legal traditions.
Today's justice systems face unprecedented challenges at the intersection of law and technology. The pace of change has outrun the capacity of legal institutions to respond.
"IFELT was established to help legal systems navigate these transformations — providing the research, dialogue, and capacity-building that justice institutions need to keep pace with a rapidly changing world."
Producing rigorous knowledge and foresight on the legal implications of emerging technologies — from AI governance to digital rights, cross-border justice, and beyond.
Creating high-level dialogue across disciplines, jurisdictions, and institutions — bringing together the practitioners, scholars, and policymakers who shape the future of law.
Strengthening the legal and institutional capabilities of professionals, courts, and organisations to understand, engage with, and govern emerging technologies effectively.
Building sustained global cooperation networks between legal institutions, universities, international organisations, and technology bodies to advance shared objectives.
Two major programmes at the heart of IFELT's mission — currently in development and launching with the Forum.
Monitoring the Legal Frontier
The IFELT Observatory monitors how emerging technologies are reshaping law and justice in real time — tracking legislative developments, judicial decisions, regulatory changes, and technological advances across jurisdictions worldwide.
Access to Justice Across Borders
The IFELT Justice Gateway facilitates access to justice across borders — providing practical guidance, legal navigation tools, and a curated network of resources to help individuals, practitioners, and institutions navigate cross-border legal challenges.
Articles, research papers, policy briefs, and expert opinions — launching with the Forum.
An examination of the evidentiary standards, authentication challenges, and judicial frameworks needed to assess AI-generated content in legal proceedings.
How should courts and legislators approach jurisdiction when disputes arise in digital environments that transcend national boundaries?
Legal systems worldwide are unprepared for the evidentiary and procedural challenges posed by synthetic media. A practitioner's perspective.
As nations assert greater control over data flows, what are the implications for international legal cooperation and access to justice?
